Our Under 20s are out of the national cup at the first hurdle. Peterborough lost to Herne Bay RHC 3-2 in the National Cup preliminaries. The defeat didn't warrant the display Peterborough gave.
The game was a carbon copy of the way the season has been for our under-20s. I don't think anybody can deny that they probably play the best hockey in the league. However, their possession and chances created do not show up on the score sheet and every mistake gets punished. In this game they also came up against a goalkeeper that almost single handedly won the game for Herne Bay, repelling shot after shot to thwart the Peterborough attack. It took two superb goals to beat Eden in the Herne Bay goal both from Josh Aaltonen. Defensive mistakes and putting the ball in the net is what the coach will work on before next season. If you don't put the ball in the net you don't win a games. If this team starts doing this other teams will have to watch out.
