Championship Match - Under 15s Bushfields Leisure Centre, Peterborough Vs ECU Blue The Under 15’s had one more game left as ECU had postponed the fixture that should have been played at the last tournament due to some of their players playing for England. This was now the Championship match whoever won would be Eastern counties champions. Both teams had already beaten one another by one goal so it was all to play for in a winner takes all match. In the first half Peterborough probably had more of the ball but ECU, probably had the better chances, but it was Peterborough that managed to find the breakthrough with Sofie advancing with the ball on a two on one she decided to shoot instead of pass which seemed to surprise the ECU goalkeeper, Brother of Peterborough player Josh Aaltonen, Kaison with the ball finding the corner of the net. Half Time, PRHC 1 ECU 0 Second half started no different to the 1st ECU threatened but didn’t look like they would be able to get back into the game with Peterborough seeming comfortable to sit on their one goal lead. But with two minutes to go Diogo advanced forward and snipped a shot over the arm off Frankie in goal to draw the game level at one apiece. Then the game took a turn a lose ball in the penalty box was hit against a Peterborough players skate and the Referee deemed it to be a kick and awarded the visitors a Penalty. Diogo stood up to take the free hit and missed but calmly put away the rebound to give ECU the lead with barely a minute to play. Peterborough then felt aggrieved again as a burst through the middle by Flynn was halted by a flying stick thrown by the ECU number 13 but no card or penalty was given just a team foul to the perplex of the watching crowd. Final Score Peterborough 1 ECU Blue 2
