The under 15s continued their season with a tournament in Soham at the Ross Peers Sports Centre. The first game of the day was the highly anticipated game leaders ECU Blue against second place Peterborough. The game earlier on in the season was arguably the game of the season to date which ECU won 3-2 and all spectators that were in attendance were expecting another close exhilarating encounter.
ECU had the better of the first half putting away their chances and showing why they were top of the league and unbeaten leading at the break 3 -1 with goals by Gemma and Diego with a pair with Peterborough's goal coming of the stick of Thomas. But even with a two goal defecate you cannot bet against this young Peterborough team who's only loss was that 3- 2 defeat back on the 6th of November. In the second half Peterborough got back in the game with Finley making the score 3-2 the team would eventually claw there way back level as Thomas would get his second and the teams third to tie the game 3-3 both teams were still trying to win the game but with the seconds ticking down in the game a superb shot from Finley found its way into the net to win the game for the blue & whites with under 15 seconds left on the clock. As you could imagine the Peterborough bench and supporters erupted when the goal went in Shane picked up Ethan lifting him like he was the World Cup but pulling his back wasn't part of the plan this he realised once putting Ethan down. his makes for an enthralling end to the season with both teams level on points and neither of them looking like dropping points. Next up was Soham, Peterborough was too much for the spirited team in Sky Blue. Our under 15s were able to use the full squad in this game unlike the game before with goals coming from a number of players. Albert & Sophie scored a hat-trick each, Thomas & Ethan bagged a brace and Olivia & Flynn also got on the Score sheet. Ethan had earlier in the game been Blue carded for an unfortunate hook that he was clearly upset about fortunately a combination of Frankie in goal but mainly the post saw the resulting direct penalty missed and the next two minutes of 4 on 3 killed off. Ethan however was soon celebrating as he came straight on from his stint in the sin bin to score a goal to put his side further in the lead. Peterborough next and third game of the day was against ECU Gold the gold team like the Blue team are a well organised side who work tirelessly for each other Peterborough ended up wining the game comfortably beating the Gold team 6-0 with goals from Albert 2, Thomas 2, Finley and Ethan. Last but not least was a game against Kings Lynn even though this was Peterborough's forth game of the day they didn't look to tired and a big squad helps with a long day like today four games in one day is a lot of minutes for any team. Peterborough won this game comfortably as the league table would probably indicate would happen but you cannot take any team for granted final score Peterborough 13 Kings Lynn 0 goals Ethan 4, Sophie 3, Albert, Olivia, Flynn all with two each. The Under 15's are next in action in the ECRHA U15s KO cup to be held at Bushfields Leisure Centre, against Kings Lynn RHC on the 19th February.
